EBN among the top-level experts at the EIC evaluating European SMEs!

EBN CEO Javier Echarri, Cristina Fanjul Alonso, Managing Director of EBN Member CEEI de Asturias and EBN Board Member, and Anna Amati, co-Founder and Owner of EBN Member META Group, are among the 87 experts at the European Innovation Council (EIC) selected to evaluate the SMEs that applied for funding under the SME Instrument.

The experts, among them business angels, investors, incubator managers and other players in the innovation ecosystem, will judge the SMEs that passed the initial selection stage for Phase 2 awards of the SME Instrument which supports the companies in turning their business concepts into market-ready products, services or processes.

The experts will conduct face-to-face interviews and listen to the companies pitch, judging which ones should be awarded funding of up to €2.5 million. This assessment methodology is newly introduced as part of the EIC SME Instrument, the initiative designed to revamp the SME Instrument evaluations, making sure the best European innovators get funding.

Currently, the pilot is being tested within the Horizon 2020 programme, with a fully-fledged EIC expected to be part of the next EU research and innovation programme.

EBN Members interested in becoming part of the judging panel to evaluate the best SMEs in Europe while networking with some of the key players in the innovation ecosystem? Send us your contact details and candidate number.
